We thought it would be great for you to get to know some of the team a bit better, so we got our newest recruit, Hattie on the case. She has put together some questions for everyone. First up, meet Rachel Adams; Rachel is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Wyldwood Arts, she lives in the Forest of Dean, and makes all sorts of beautiful projects happen.
Hattie Thomas: Who inspires you?
Rachel Adams: My partner Cam – she is so wise and compassionate. She takes the most amazing photographs and has created such beautiful films for Wyldwood. As a documenter, she is an unsung hero, quietly working away in the background capturing all the wonderful projects taking place.
I’m also constantly moved by our intergenerational projects and artists – it’s so special to see friendship surpass age and physical ability, and the tenderness with which our artists and freelancers take with each project is inspiring.
HT: What is your favourite place in the world and why?
RA: The Rockies in Canada….I visited as a child and it opened my mind to the world and its expanse. It’s truly awesome.
HT: Do you have any hobbies?
RA: Four dogs equals lots of lovely long Forest walks, I love to swim and practice yoga every day and dance whenever I am given the chance.
HT: Which four individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most?
RA: Carole King, Grace Jones, Dame Judy Dench & May Billinghurst.
HT: Books or films?
HT: What is your favourite book/film?
RA: I’d love to say something profound and spiritual but everyone who knows me will know that it’s got to be the 90’s classic film Pretty Woman. I just love a good fairytale story and it’s a classic. Although, Sapiens and Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Horari blew my mind!
HT: What’s the coolest thing you are working on right now?
RA: So many things! I’m excited about our new collaboration with The Totterdown Road Project – I’m so thrilled to be working with Mike Akers again. Mike did such a wonderful job of writing Passing the Baton and I’m honoured he asked me to direct this new work too.
HT: Which superhero do you most identify with? Or make up your own!
RA: I think I’d be Penny from Inspector Gadget – not quite a Super Hero with a cape, but gets the job done with her dog, Brain!
HT: Sum up working for Wyldwood Arts in 3 words!
Joyful, creative & fun.
